17. PAIR. One pair with three distinct cards. A pair with low numbers breaks ties. If the players have the pairs of the same value, then the player who has a card with the lowest number among over three cards, wins. If this lowest number is the same with the other player, then the player with the lowest total score of all five cards wins. If this number is the same, the players split the pot. PAIR (sample) XX CENTURY (sample) Number of players: 2 to 8. Rules of GENPOKER Card Game GENPOKER, as most of the Poker games, is a game of chance. The name "Genpoker" comes as a combination of two words: GENERATIONS and POKER. The major difference with Poker is: a card with lower number in Genpoker always has more value. Genpoker is played with a standard 72-pack of Six Generations cards, but in the beginning the players must remove 8 cards from category #6 out of the deck, and play only with other 64 cards. The cards to withdraw are: any 4 couples from the same nation (country) from Set #6, total of 8 cards. The other 64 cards to play with are divided into six categories, or sets. Each category portrays a different generation. There are couples from 16 countries of early 19th century Europe (32 cards) and five generations of American descendants (16, 8, 4, 2 and 2 cards), the last generation of which is a brother and sister living at the start of the 21st century. The cards are ranked (from high to low) Children (#1) - 2 cards, Parents (#2) - 2 cards, Grandparents (#3) - 4 cards, XX century (#4) - 8 cards, Victorian (#5) - 16 cards, and Europe (#6) - 32 cards. The cards are also divided into "Europeans" (32 cards #6), "Americans" ( 32 cards from #5 to #1); "Ancestors" (62 cards from #6 to #2), and "Children" (2 cards #1). There are two suits: red (women) and black (men), 32 cards of each suit; however, no suit is higher than another. All Genpoker hands contain five cards, the highest hand wins. The cards with the lower numbers in Genpoker always have more value, than the cards with the higher numbers.
In the beginning of the game each player is dealt five cards. Then each player may discard up to 3 cards and get back from the deck as many cards as he/she discarded. After that the players are placing their five-card hand face up on the table and checking out who is the winner. 2. ANCESTORS (Similar to Straight Flush in Poker) is the lower rank combination than America, but there are also only two combinations like that in the game: red and black. If more than one hand has Ancestors, they split the pot. This hand is called Ancestors because all this characters are ancestors of the brother and sister, Jacob and Emily from the category #1. AMERICA (sample) ANCESTORS (sample) 3. STRAIGHT . A straight is 5 cards in order, such as 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6, but not of the same suit (otherwise it would be America or Ancestors. When straights tie, the highest straight wins. If two straights have the same value (1-2-3-4-5 vs 1-2-3-4-5) they split the pot. STRAIGHT (sample) 5. XX CENTURY (Similar to Five of a Kind in Poker) is five cards of the same rank from category #4. Only one player can have XX Century at the same game, because there are only 8 cards of the category #4. This hand is called XX Century because the characters from the generations #4 lived in the beginning of the XX century. 4. GRANDPARENTS is four cards from category #3. Only one player can have Grandparents at the same game, because there are ony 4 cards of the category #3. The fifth card could be any card. This hand is called Grandparents because the characters from the generations #3 are the grandparents of Emily and Jacob from the Set #1. GRANDPARENTS (sample) 7. VICTORIAN (Similar to Five of a Kind in Poker) is five cards from category #5. If two or three players have Victorian at the same time, the set with more cards of the same suit (color) wins. If the cards have equal amount of same colors, the players split the pot. This hand is called Victorian because the characters from the generations #5 lived in the United States during the Victorian times (second part of the 19th century). VICTORIAN (sample) TWO COUNTRIES (sample) 6. TWO COUNTRIES is four cards from category #6, each couple of them represent the characters from the same European nation. The fifth card could be any card. If the players have Two countries at the same time, the one who has the lower number on the fifth card, wins. If both of them have the fifth card of the same category, they split the pot. There are 32 characters from 16 European nations in the deck. All pairs are equal in value. 13. FULL HOUSE is a three of a kind and a pair, such as 6-6-6-4-4. Ties are broken first by the three of a kind, then pair. So 5-5-5-6-6 beats 6-6-6-3-3, which beats 6-6-6-4-4. FULL HOUSE (sample) 14. FLUSH is a hand where all of the cards are the same suit (color), such as 6-6-4-3-1, all red, or all black. When flushes ties, the higher set should start with the lower number. Sample: 1-3-4-5-5 beats 3-4-5-6-6. If both sets start with the same number, the set, which has the lower amount of the sum of all numbers, added together, beats the set with the larger sum. Sample: 1-4-4-5-6 (total number 20) beats 1-3-6-6-6 (total number 22). If the total score of several players matches then, they split the pot. FLUSH (sample) 8. EUROPE (Similar to Five of a Kind in Poker) is five cards from category #6. If two to eight players have Europe at the same time, the set with more cards of the same suit (color) wins. If the cards have equal amount of same colors, the players split the pot. This hand is called Europe because all the characters from generation #6 lived in Europe. EUROPE (sample) 12. FOUR OF A KIND is four cards of the same rank. Only cards from #4 to #6 are actually participating to build this hand. (Generations #1 and #2 have less then 4 cards in each category, and generation #3 already has it's own higher hand called Grandparents.) The fifth card could be of any other rank. If there are two or more hands that qualify, the hand with the low-rank four of a kind wins. When hands tie on the rank of a four of a kind, the card outside with the lowest number break ties. If the fifth card has the same value then, they split the pot. FOUR OF A KIND (sample) 11. COUNTRY is two cards from category #6 with the characters from the same European nation. The other three cards could be any cards. If several players have Country at the same time, the one who has a card with the lowest number among other three wins. If the lowest number is the same with the other player, then the player with the lowest total score of all five cards wins. If this number is the same, the players split the pot. There are 32 characters from 16 European nations in the game. COUNTRY (sample) 9. CHILDREN is both cards from category #1. It doesn't matter, what other three cards are. CHILDREN (sample) 10. PARENTS is both cards from category #2. It doesn't matter, what other three cards are. PARENTS (sample) 15. THREE OF A KIND is three cards of the same rank. (Only the cards from #3 to #6 could make this match.) The other two cards could be from any other generation. If several players have three of a kind at the same time, the one whose set is from the lowest rank, wins. If the players have the sets of the same value, then the player who has a card with the lowest number among over two wins. If this lowest number is the same with the other player, then the player with the lowest total score of all five cards wins. If this number is the same, the players split the pot. THREE OF A KIND (sample) 16. TWO PAIR. This is two distinct pairs of card and a 5th card. The lowest pair wins ties. If both hands have the same pair, the second pair wins. If both hands have the same pairs, the high card wins. If the fifth card is the same, the players split the pot. TWO PAIR (sample) 18. HIGH CARD. This is any card which doesn't qualify as any one of the above hands. If nobody has a pair or better, then the lowest card wins. If multiple people tie for the lowest card, they look at the second lowest, then the third lowest etc. Low card is also used to break ties when the high hands both have the same type of hands (pair, flush, straight, etc). CARD (sample) DESCRIPTION OF HAND RANKS (from high to low) 1. AMERICA (Similar to Royal Flush in Poker) is the highest possible hand. America is a straight (5 cards in order) combination (1-2-3-4-5) that are all of the same suit, red or black. There are only two combinations like that in the game: red or black. If more than one hand has Americas, they split the pot. This hand is called America because all the characters on the cards were born in the United States. Each card carry the US flag on it.
